On behalf of the children, staff and governors of Beechfield School, it gives me great pleasure in welcoming you to our brand new website. Here you will find lots of information about our school and the many exciting activities we do. Make sure you visit this site on a regular basis as there will be new items added all of the time.  As our new website progresses, it will reflect the fact that Beechfield is a thriving school, committed to providing a broad and balanced education in order to develop the whole child.

Beechfield is first and foremost a learning environment. We prepare our children for a happy, confident entry into the world as responsible citizens. We aim to inspire our children to do their very best to achieve academic excellence through helping build confidence and belief in themselves, helping them to become independent, motivated and creative learners and helping them to be reflective and thoughtful people who are able to make good friends and to develop a wide range of interests and skills. Above all, we want our children to come to school every day happy and excited about learning.

We are a friendly, welcoming and inclusive school with high expectations for every child both academically and socially. Our school population is a reflection of the rich cultural diversity of the community. Our children originate from many different countries, speaking a large number of languages. We believe this makes our school a vibrant, exciting and special place to be.

Our curriculum is a topic-based, which is structured into six half-termly topics across a school year.  Our topics have been chosen by our staff to reflect the children’s interests and to ensure that there is complete curriculum coverage across our school. It is fun, engaging, relevant, rigorous, broad and meets the needs of all. Our key objectives are taken from the 2014 National Curriculum, however our curriculum is unique to Beechfield, as it has been tailored with our children in mind.  In all subjects, there is a relentless focus on high quality teaching, which motivates and excites children and ensures that they leave Beechfield with all of the key skills needed to succeed in life.  In every area of the curriculum, we encourage the pupils to debate, reason, and justify their answers.

At Beechfield we are committed to safeguarding all members of our community. We believe that our school should provide a safe, caring, positive, and stimulating environment in which pupils can learn and which promotes the social, physical and emotional wellbeing of each individual. At all times we take notice of and adhere to the national and local policies and guidance in regards to keeping children safe in education.

At Beechfield we are fortunate to have enthusiastic staff, who are committed to high standards of education and behaviour. The school has a wonderful “family atmosphere” which gives children a secure and happy environment in which to learn and develop as young adults. The partnership between home and school is a vital one and mutual support is imperative, so we strive to work in close partnership with our parents and families to do the very best for our children and our community. Our practice is rooted in our belief that all members of the community should be treated with respect and dignity and that everyone has the right to equality of opportunity and is of equal worth.

Our school is an open one, where we are keen to see and hear from parents. Please feel free to raise any concerns or queries with your child’s class teacher, myself or the office staff, who can put you in contact with the right person. You can contact me directly via e mail at head@beechfield.herts.sch or on twitter at @HeadBeechfield.
