Scientists Visit to Year 5

Beechfield School had some very special visitors on Tuesday 6th May.

Beechfield School had some very special visitors on Tuesday 6th May from the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), which is one of India’s premier science-focused universities, and University College London (UCL). These engineers work in the exciting areas of new energy technologies and renewable energy.

The British Council has funded a project as part of the Going Global Partnership programme, which is led by UCL, in collaboration with VIT and Siemens Energy. The team has developed a new curriculum on hydrogen technologies, which is primarily targeted at upskilling the future engineering workforce.

The engineers talked to the Year 5 children at Beechfield about sustainability, climate change and renewable energy, and demonstrated how hydrogen can be produced from water using electrolysers and used to power a car. The children were amazed to see how hydrogen could provide clean energy in the future.
