The campaign, run by Hand on Heart, works in partnership with local schools across Watford and Hertfordshire to ease the financial pressure on families, especially during the back-to-school period.

Councillor Khan said:

"It was a real pleasure to drop off the bags at Beechfield School, which is a truly wonderful school with fantastic pupils and staff. These small acts of kindness make a big difference, helping children feel confident, prepared and supported in their education. I’m proud to play my part in making sure children gets the best possible start to the school year."

Mrs Jackson said:

"We are grateful for the support from Hand on Heart.  These school bags will make a huge difference for many of our families and give our children a sense of pride in starting the new year with everything they need."
